Absolut Citron Vodka

Absolut Citrón Vodka

By Robert Plotkin

Perhaps the best-known flavored vodka in the world, premium Absolut Citrón puts a modern spin on the centuries-old tradition in Sweden of flavoring spirits with fruits and herbs. The citrus-infused vodka caused a sensation upon its 1988 launch in the United States. American mixologists had not worked with anything like it before and scant few of its caliber since. The Swedish all-star had a significant impact on how we design and structure our cocktails, which has made it a permanent member of the "must have" club. Absolut’s famed range of vodkas are made in Åhus, Sweden and distilled entirely from winter wheat and purified well water. They're quadruple-distilled in a continuous still and contain no sugar or artificial flavorings. To create Absolut Citrón Vodka, the master distiller runs the vodka through the still along with a citrus infusion.

The result is a sleek, highly aromatic spirit with a bouquet of sun-drenched limes and lemons and a mildly tart citrus palate with the lemon decidedly more prominent. Its flavors are remarkably fresh and pleasantly long lasting. Citrón has tremendous character and a whole lot of pizzazz.

Introduced in 1986, Absolut Peppar Vodka is produced with an infusion of fresh chili, jalapeño and green bell peppers. While not likely to spontaneously combust, the spicy, distinctively exuberant spirit does generate considerable BTUs.

Equally vivacious and well received by mixologists, Absolut Kurant Vodka gets its irresistible personality from black currants— fragrant, dark-skinned berries related to grapes. The vodka is aromatic and lavishly flavored, making it a natural for use in cocktails.
