AnestasiA Vodka

AnestasiA Vodka

By Robert Plotkin

Innovation is an extremely valuable commodity with today's spirits consumer, especially when it pertains to products in the jam-packed vodka category. When it comes down to it, consumers are attracted to the voyage of discovery, finding a spirit that most closely conforms to their wants and desires. It adds spice to life, which ironically is the little extra something added to to the utterly refreshing AnestasiA Vodka. Search if you must, but a more distinctive spirit you will not find.

The ultra-premium vodka is produced in Bend, Oregon from organic, locally grown corn and spring water drawn from underground aquifers fed by the Cascade Mountains. The ingredients are fermented and distilled five times. To ensure essential purity, the naturally gluten-free vodka is rigorously filtered through charcoal and crushed volcanic rock before being bottled at 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof).

Here's the intriguing part. To create a vodka so cool on the palate that its inherent warmth can not be felt, the makers infused AnestasiA with a peerless combination of mentha, vanilla, orchid and cardamom. The impact of the alcohol on the palate is remarkable. Almost immediately the vodka expands and fills the mouth with a tsunami-sized wave of cool, slightly spicy flavor. The pleasant effect is like that of menthol, but with far more delicacy and depth of character. The finish is extraordinarily long and with subtle notes of anise and citrus.

Those looking to sample something altogether novel, a vodka completely devoid of alcohol burn, AnestasiA should be at the top of the list. It's a complex spirit with a decidedly Russian character. Kudos!

Congratulations also go out to the brand's bottle design. It's practically impossible not to stare at AnestasiA Vodka on the backbar. Its attention-grabbing, Italian glass bottle is riveting and does a laudable job creating anticipation for the sensational spirit it contains.

"When it comes too luxury products—from French perfume, Italian shoes and Swiss watches to British cars and Russian vodkas—imports reign supreme," says Yuliya Mamontova-Calian, president and co-founder of NUMbrands, Inc. "We believe that luxury that is defined by quality, integrity and craftsmanship can be produced in the U.S. In fact this is our goal and mission - to inspire the American consumer and manufacturer to buy and produce luxury in America. We can and should make it here."

Vodka enthusiasts have even more reasons to be enthused. The company plans on launching a non-infused expression of AnestasiA Vodka in June, 2013.
