The Zuñiga family is among the oldest, most venerable agave growers in the Jalisco region of Mexico. Their legacy can be traced back many generations, a wealth of experience and a reputation for greatness that is immediately apparent in Azuñia Blanco 100% Agave Tequila.

The brand is the exclusive U.S. export from Agaveros Unidos de Amatitán (NOM1426). The agaves used to make the tequila are grown without the use of pesticides from acres owned and maintained by the Sergio Zuñiga family. The sun-drenched fields surround the small town of Amatitán and spread from the mineral rich valley floor to the Highlands of Sandoval Mountain. The loamy volcanic soil and warm climate are ideal for cultivating sugar-rich blue agaves.

The USDA-certified organic agaves are harvested by hand after they reach the age of 8 to 10 years. At the distillery, the agaves used to make the Azuñia Blanco are shredded and baked in a traditional clay hornos for 36 hours. They are allowed to cool before being pressed three times to extract their fermentable juices. That juice—referred to as aguamiel or "honey water"—is transferred to a fermentation tank where it spontaneously ferments using natural, airborne yeast over the course of 5-7 days. The fermented wash is then double-distilled in a pot still and rendered to 80-proof with pristine water drawn from a deep artesian well. The tequila is carefully filtered to ensure absolute purity before being bottled.

Azuñia Blanco is an unadulterated pleasure. The tequila has a glistening, crystal clear appearance, a medium-weight, satiny textured body, and an alluring floral bouquet with lively herbal and citrus notes. Frankly, its high aromatics are well worth the price of admission. The tequila has a gentle entry and raises scant heat as it bathes the palate with lemon zest, peeled oranges and semisweet herbal flavors. The finish is minty, citrusy, of medium duration and thoroughly satisfying.

Azuñia Reposado and the Azuñia Añejo are made in the same manner as the Blanco. The reposado is aged in American oak barrels for three months, while the añejo is barrel aged for a minimum of a year.

Azuñia Reposado 100% Agave Tequila has a light golden/amber hue, a velvety textured body and an herbal, vanilla and black pepper nose. The tequila fills the mouth with the flavors of lemons, oranges, vanilla, toffee and toasted oak. The finish is long and laced with the added flavor of dark chocolate.

The Azuñia Añejo 100% Agave Tequila is a sophisticated spirit with a rich amber hue, an oily textured, medium-weight body and wafting baking spice, lemon, black cherry and floral aromas. On the palate, the añejo tequila presents the long lasting flavors of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, semisweet herbs and fresh citrus. The finish is warm and flavorful.

The Azuñia range of tequilas offers consumers tremendous quality and authentic flavors at a remarkably fair price. It's a great choice to take to a deserted island. Salud!
