Ultra-premium Cruz del Sol Reposado 100% Agave Tequila is an artisanal spirit crafted using time-honored techniques. The qualitative difference is evident in every sniff, sip and swallow.

Cruz del Sol is handcrafted at Fabrica de Tequila El Nacimiento [NOM 1455] in the Los Altos Highlands of Jalisco. After harvesting, its estate-grown agaves are taken to the distillery where they are baked over the course of several days in brick ovens. Baking the agaves converts the plant's starch into fermentable sugars.

The agaves are then shredded and the sugar-rich juice is collected and transferred to large open vats where it is allowed to slowly ferment using naturally occurring airborne yeast. The fermented juice is double distilled in traditional copper pot stills. Afterwards the young tequila is rested for 6 months in charred, American white oak barrels. Cruz Tequilas are bottled at 40% alcohol (80 proof).

"Our tequila best illustrates why reposados are so popular with consumers," says Pep Katcher, president and co-founder of Cruz Tequila. "It is a soft, complex spirit that can be enjoyed straight, but also offers the utility of starring in traditional cocktails. It is imbued with subtle flavor nuances derived from the barrel, all of which do not overpower the sweet citrus flavors of the agave. Being tequila purists, we used no artificial flavoring to achieve the depth of our reposado."

Cruz Reposado is indeed a treat for the senses. It is an accessible tequila with a pale golden hue, a satiny lightweight body and a wafting bouquet laced with vanilla, spice and fresh fruit aromas. Its palate is a layered affair of citrus, vanilla, caramel, red plums and toasted oak. The lingering finish is spicy warm.

Cruz del Sol Silver 100% Agave Tequila is an excellent example of why enthusiasts enjoy sipping blanco tequilas neat or with a little ice. Bottled fresh directly from the still, Cruz Silver is unaffected by aging in oak. As a result, the tequila is brimming with authentic character and the unadulterated taste of agave. It has ideal clarity, a light, silky smooth body, and a focused bouquet comprised of herbal and spicy aromas with light citrus and floral notes. The entry onto the palate is dry and without a trace of excess heat. It quickly fills the mouth with the long-lasting flavors of black pepper, ripe plums, cinnamon, citrus and anise. The finish is slightly spicy and thoroughly satisfying.

¡Salud!
