Cruzan Pineapple Rum

Cruzan Pineapple Rum

By Robert Plotkin

If it's true that variety is the spice of life, then cocktail-friendly Cruzan Pineapple Rum will jazz things up behind American bars for years to come. Made in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, this Caribbean thoroughbred is a blend of column-distilled rums aged between 2- to 3-years in charred American oak barrels. Afterwards it is repeatedly filtered through activated charcoal to remove trace impurities and any color obtained during its stay in wood. The rum is then infused with all-natural pineapple flavorings before being bottled at 54-proof.

Cruzan Pineapple is a tropical treat without equal. The crystal clear rum has a light to medium-weight body, lushly-textured body with a prominent, true to fruit bouquet. Because of its relatively low proof, its semisweet, slightly tart pineapple flavor stays on the palate for an impressively long time, a trait that makes it ideal for drink making.

The critically acclaimed range also includes Cruzan Banana Rum, a lip-smacking spirit brimming with universal appeal. The lightweight, aromatic rum has the authentic flavor of ripe bananas with only a trace of natural sweetness, an attribute that makes it an inspired replacement in cocktails for often cloying crème de banana.

In addition to being immediately engaging, these rums are especially well-suited for use in cocktails because relatively low alcohol content allows their flavors to persist on palate. Rounding out the popular line are Cruzan Coconut, Vanilla and Black Cherry Rum. Each are singularly light, dry and thoroughly delicious.
