Regalia Silver Vodka

There are good reasons why Russian vodkas are the most sought after spirits of their type. High on the list is the romance of having originated during the time of the Czars. Vodka was the drink of choice at the Imperial courts and palaces. Distillers of the day were technologically advanced; they refined the art of distillation and perfected the process of filtration. Many of those innovations are considered standard practices today.

For Baby Boomers, another enticing aspect of Russian vodka has to do with it being forbidden fruit and long denied to us in the decadent West. Few if any consumer goods produced under the old Soviet regime were more alluring than Russian vodka. It made it seem like all other vodkas on the market were poor substitutes for the real thing.

Thankfully the Cold War and Berlin Wall are things of the past and Russian borne Regalia Silver Vodka is now available in the U.S. This brilliant, character laden spirit is crafted in Yaroslavl, an ancient city located near Moscow. The vodka is made according to a 300 year old recipe and distilled from wheat grown in the black soil of the Russian South and water drawn from a 1500-foot deep artesian well, After fermentation, the wash is 5-times distilled in a state of the art column still and then rigorously filtered through quartz sand, paper, birch charcoal, and finally silver. The vodka is bottled at 40% alcohol (80 proof) and rated by the Russian government as a "luxe" grade, the highest quality designation assigned.

Few products enjoy the kind of heritage and pedigree as Regalia Silver Vodka. The crystal clear vodka has a satiny, medium-weight body and a light grainy bouquet that's best described as semisweet, crisp and pure. Its entry barely raises any heat on the palate as it gradually expands filling the mouth with a delectable array of spices and sweet grain flavor. The lingering finish is warm and spicy.

If you haven't experienced the joys of drinking "luxe" grade Russian vodka, Regalia Silver is an ideal brand with which to start. It is also a great choice to serve neat and well chilled. That said, Regalia is well suited to serve as the foundation for any vodka-based cocktail.

Nazdaróvye!
