Scour Amatitán though you may, you'll not find a more affordable, more sophisticated spirit than award-winning Regional Añejo 100% Agave Tequila. It's a slice of luxury over 25 years in the making.

Regional (pronounced  "Ray-he-o-nahl") Tequilas are crafted at Empresa Ejidal Tequilera de Amatitán (NOM 1503). It was founded in 1974 as a consortium of 36 agave-producing farmers located throughout the 7 different counties of Jalisco. The collective of small, family-owned growers dedicated themselves to making the finest tequila possible using mature agaves grown in fields ranging from the mineral rich valley floor to the Highlands of the surrounding mountain. This singular blend of appellations helps create the unique Regional taste profile.

The distillery employs both traditional and modern techniques to produce its tequilas. After harvesting, the shredded agaves are baked in stainless steel autoclaves for a solid 18 hours. They are allowed to cool before being pressed three times to extract their fermentable juices. The juice—referred to as aguamiel or "honey water"—is transferred to a fermentation tank where over 5-7 days it spontaneously ferments using natural, airborne yeast. The fermented wash is then double-distilled in a traditional pot still and rendered to 80-proof with pristine water drawn from a deep artesian well.

The Regional Añejo is best described as elegant. It is matured for a minimum of 12 months in American white oak barrels, during which time it obtains a deep golden/amber hue, a silky medium-weight body and a generous bouquet of spice, cocoa and dried herbs. Its aromatics are irresistible. The tequila has a smooth gentle entry that fills the mouth with the dry, warm flavors of clove, anise, fresh herbs and chocolate with long-lasting notes of vanilla, toffee and honey. It's a delectably complex tequila priced well below market. Kudos!

Regional Reposado 100% Agave Tequila is aged in charred American oak barrels for 3 months, a stay long enough to leave it affected by the wood, but short enough to leave much of its youthful exuberance intact. The tequila has a light straw color, a lightweight body and an engaging nutty, herbaceous nose. Its palate is a layered affair of herbs, honey and powdered cocoa. The flavors last long into the extended finish.

Bottled fresh from the still, Regional Blanco 100% Agave Tequila is a delight from stem to stern, a shining example of what aficionados find so appealing about artisanal blanco tequilas. The spirit has a clear shimmery appearance, a light satiny body and an alluring mint and citrus bouquet. The herbal finish is long and distinguished.

1 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 oz. fresh lime juice
1/2 oz. grapefruit juice
1/2 oz. orange juice
Shake and strain
Fill with grapefruit soda
Orange wheel garnish
Spanish Peach

2 oz. Regional Resposado Tequila
1/2 oz. Peach Schnaaps
1/2 oz. fresh lime
1/2 oz. Azunia Organic Agave Nectar
1/2 oz. cranberry juice
Shake and strain
Peach slice garnish
Zuniga Espress
Cocktail glass, chilled
Pour into an iced mixing glass
1 1/2 oz. Regional Anejo Tequila
3/4 oz. Kahlua Coffee Liqueur
1 1/2 oz. freshly brewed espresso
