Three Olives Vodka

Three Olives Vodka

By Robert Plotkin

England has a long, storied history producing vodka, primarily stemming from the country's production of gin, in which the first step is producing a superior neutral grain spirit. Carrying on this heritage is Three Olives Vodka. Since its introduction in 1998, it has become one of the world's most successful brands of vodka and with good reason.

Super-premium Three Olives is produced by acclaimed G&J Greenalls in Warrington, distillers of Bombay Sapphire and the last independent, family-operated distillery in the UK. The vodka is quadruple-distilled from high-grade wheat and rendered to bottle strength—40% alcohol by volume—with demineralized water from Lake Vyrnwy in Wales. The grain is sourced from East Anglia, one of England's most prestigious agricultural regions well known for its temperate climate and highly prized wheat. After distillation, the vodka is triple-filtered through thick beds of charcoal to remove any remaining trace impurities. To a large degree, the distillery's steadfast adherence to traditional techniques and reliance on impeccable raw ingredients is responsible for the brand's global success.

Three Olives Vodka is a remarkably refreshing spirit. It has pristine clarity, a medium-weight, oily textured body, and a delicate bouquet of sweet grain and dried herbs. The vodka's entry is soft and refined. It gradually fills the mouth with warm, thoroughly delectable grainy notes before finishing clean and crisp with just a trace of sweetness. Three Olives is an elegant vodka that well deserves its top-shelf status.

Although well suited for use in a Martini or other vodka-based cocktail, it's almost a shame to add anything to Three Olives but a chill.

In 2001, the brand launched its first flavor extensions with the release of Three Olives Cherry Flavored Vodka and Three Olives Grape Flavored Vodka. The quadruple-distilled spirits were produced with pure, natural ingredients, the quality of which is immediately evident on both their vibrant bouquets and luxurious, flavorful finishes. Ten years later, the brand's range of flavored vodka has grown to 18. In addition to perennial favorites Cherry and Grape, the Three Olives roster of flavors now includes Bubble, RangTang (orange/tangerine), Purple (with a sweeter, more intense grape flavor), Dude (lemon-lime), Berry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Triple Shot Espresso, Root Beer, Orange, Citrus, Watermelon, Pomegranate, Raspberry and Mango.

Rule Britannia. Cheers!
